In this age of increased economic competition, more and more people are seeking out an MBA degree at graduate business schools to further their career, their salary potential and make the transition to a higher level of responsibility. Business students are finding that earning an MBA degree from a graduate business school is necessary if they are to reach the higher echelons in their field, especially at the management level.

In an MBA program, the majority of the coursework is across the various dimensions of business including marketing, finance, operations, economics, organizational behavior, strategy and other business foundations. You normally will also have worked in team-building coursework and project work in your program. Earning an MBA degree provides you with a broad set of management and leadership skills to help you advance in your career. You can either take the general Business Administration MBA degree or work towards an MBA in one of the above specializations.

One of the qualifying factors in acceptance into an MBA program is your score on the GMAT (The Graduate Management Admission Test). Different schools place different levels of emphasis on how you score on the test.

Other MBA program admission factors include work experience, academic transcripts, essays, references and letters of recommendation, personal interviews, leadership potential, extracurricular activities, community service activities, "uniqueness" factor and how you can contribute to the student body as a whole.
